Special Event during Auckland Heritage Festival 2010

History Through a House
• Exploring layers of changing domestic life as experienced by the six families who lived at Wenderholm 1857 - 1973.
• Costumed hosts and special displays - children's trails.
• On 18th and 19th September, 25th and 26th September, also open daily 27th to 30th September and 1st, 2nd and 3rd October.
• 1-00pm to 4-00pm each day. Normal admission: Adults $3 Children free. Details from (09) 528 3713.

Stop Press: ARC sponsored 50 minute guided walks in the garden and park some weekends at 2-30pm. Ring for details nearer the time.

How do I get there by car?
From Auckland
Take the Orewa / Waiwera exit from the Northern (Toll Road) Motorway. Drive north along the old state highway and enter the park just north of Waiwera.
From the north
Exit State Highway 1 before the start of the Northern Motorway. Wenderholm Regional Park is on your left.
By Bus/Public transport
Buses run daily from Downtown Auckland to Waiwera. The park is a 10 minute walk north, across the Waiwera Bridge.
• Stay over in this stunning setting. Book the Wenderholm Beach Cottage (a 5 minute walk from Couldrey House)

• Camp in the camping ground in Wenderholm Regional Park
(a 15 minute walk from Couldrey House or a 5 minute drive).
• Walk Maungatauhoro – a 1/2hr hr long walk around part of the headland above Couldrey House. For the fit and able, with spectacular views.
• Swim at Wenderholm Beach
• Kayak the Puhoi River from Wenderholm.
• Volunteer on the park Ph 00649 426 1200
• Pohutukawa ‘avenue’ – in early summer these giant trees are ablaze with red flowers.
• Bird watch near the beach – a NZ dotterel might be spotted!
